I noticed last night after I ordered a drink at the bar, that my receipt included a service charge. It must have took all of 3 seconds to fill my glass of wine (at 5.95) only to then be charged (albeit discretionary) 60p service charge. I estimate based on that rate, the lady could have earned the hotel £5,760.00 for an eight hour shift. The wine itself could have earned them (just out of interest) £57,120.00 revenue.
If this were not a fantastic money making exercise in it’s own right. The other lady on the till, give my change back ON A PLATE. Presumably hoping I wouldn’t then pick it up, preferring instead that I leave it as ANOTHER Tip for the effort she had undertaken in extracting £5.95 plus 60p service charge from my already light wallet.
Is it me?
