It was about 12.30 that with some colleagues we visited Smithy’s Wine Bar on Leeke Street, near Kings Cross for a lunchtime working meeting. We were soon seated and quickly chose the two course set lunch for £8.95. Starting with a feta cheese salad to be followed by a baked haddock main, the food was very welcome indeed as we chatted about work. The portions served were just right; enough to feel as though you have had a good meal, but not too much as to make you want to sleep it off in the afternoon. We were in and out within just over and hour, but it did take a little while to catch the attention of the staff when wishing to settle the bill.
All in all, a very pleasant little wine bar, serving very good lunch time meals by people genuinely interested in providing good service.
