Spending four hours at York hospital NHS Trust yesterday afternoon, I could not believe that it cost £7.50 in parking fees.  How that charge can be justified is a complete mystery to me.  Passing the car park attendant having just fed more money into the meter because the appointments slots were over running (not our fault) I noticed two cars had been ticketed with fines.  Taxing the ill seems morally wrong but to add insult to injury by slapping heaving parking fines on top is just beyond the pale.

One Response to “Parking Charges at York Hospital NHS Trust”

  • Whew! That’s quite expensive for a mere 4 hours.

I’ve heard that public hospitals use paid parkings to limit the number of times some people use the (generally free) services.

There may be some wisdom is preventing abusers from running up the public health tab but it’s profoundly unfair for the overwhelming majority of people who use the parking for genuine health problems.

Have you complained to the hospital administration?
