John Lewis reports this week a huge drop in profits at it’s department stores over the last six months. Evidence surely that we are now in recession. What this means to our hope a new John Lewis store would open in York, remains to be seen. Rumours still abound but there is no real sign it might actually happen. We would settle for a Waitrose store; if Hull can have one, then why not York is what I want to know. Nothing against Hull of course.
