I dined last night with a colleague from work at the Trattoria Monte Bianco on Cleveland Street in London.  A small Italian restaurant, you immediately step back in time upon entering.  I went for a vegetable soup starter and roast chicken with vegetable main.  I’d eaten here before so was looking forward to my meal.  Unfortunately the quality of the food served up was no where near as good as that experienced previously.  They do say the sign of a good restaurant is consistency and with this second visit proving a disappointment I doubt I will return.  The ingredients used were cheap and although the vegetables were fresh proved to be bland and badly seasoned. The service was however friendly and although the restaurant was quiet with only five other diners, the atmosphere was warm; helped partly by the under seat heating, which was pleasant to start with having entered from a cold London, but as the evening wore, became quite uncomfortable.  The stiff straight back chairs were also not the kind to encourage you stay and have a relaxing chat.

With lots of other restaurants on Cleveland Street and nearby Charlotte Street, there are many other options that you might like to explore instead.
