What a fantastic little takeaway this place is. I came across Eat takeaway at North Point in Faverdale North Industrial Estate last year when I was visiting my company’s local office. I had the opportunity to make a return visit last week and the very first thing I did after parking up the car was visit this shop. It is simply brilliant.
Takeaway cafes on industrial estates conjure up images of a really bad greasy spoon run by a bloke in a string vest out the back of an old truck, making tea using water from a large plastic water butt and serving any kind of food so long as it can be fried on a large hot plate.
This place will reset those preconceptions for anyone who visits and afterwards all other takeaways will probably always fall short of the standards set by Eat takeaway at North Point in Darlington. It is in my view, the takeaway cafe equivalent of Waitrose. Absolutely spotless, brilliant professional friendly service and food that will tempt you every time. They sell freshly prepared sandwiches, fresh coffee, hot meals, cold drinks and do this from a glistening bright shop. This isn’t because it is new either. The shop looks just as good and clean as I remember when visiting last year, so they clearly take pride in its appearance and I always say, consistency is a sign of a real quality establishment.
To top their takeaway equivalent of a Waitrose shop when it comes to good food and service, they don’t even charge Waitrose prices. I remember when I first visited last year I had to ask if they had made a mistake and charged me for everything I had bought. They had and sure enough this time, I again had to stop myself from asking the same question. The prices are so low as compared to those you pay not a million miles away in York, let alone further south in London.
If I’m in the area again, I will always make a point of calling by; my bacon and sausage pannini with fresh coffee was simply wonderful especially at only £3.70p
