Update: If you have just under £2m quid, you can buy Mother Shiptons Cave which went on the market today. With 65000 visitors a year, it could be a nice little hobby for someone.
Original Post: We turned up around noon with the family and gained entry having paid £5.75 per adult (family tickets available) to the friendly young guys at the gate. Walking through the grounds, there were plenty of places to stop and have a picnic with fantastic views of the River Nidd and Knaresborough. Dotted along the route were several children’s play areas which kept our two nieces very happy indeed. Mother Shipton’s Cave and the Petrifying Well were clearly popular with a number of other people listening to the commentary along the way. We made a quick visit to the museum on site and the old fashioned games were really good fun. The kids didn’t have a look in as Paul and I spent a bit of time on them! On our way back we stopped off at the picnic tables provided by the owners near the river and had a spot of lunch before heading out to explore Knaresborough itself. What a wonderful hidden gem it is! A beautiful place to meander through. Head up to the Castle and look out from the moat for what could possibly be the best view in Yorkshire.
