We had a late lunch at The Restaurant Bar & Grill in Leeds today.  It is housed in The Old Post Office,  on City Square.  We had dined here before, so were happy to take the in-laws along, safe in the knowledge that the food served is of good quality.  We arrived around 1pm and the place was very busy.  We had a short wait for a table and so had a drink in the bar, which is a smart stylish place served by friendly attentive bar staff.

We eventually took our seats outside and Paul and I had great views of the people of Leeds who were walking by.  Lots of eye candy to keep us amused as we waited for our meals to arrive.  Paul and I shared a mezze starter at £12.95.  It was a nice light way to start the meal and we both enjoyed it.  For mains, I opted for the 8oz fillet steak (£21.95) with fries (£3), while Paul went for the 6oz fillet peppered steak served up with potato (£19.95).  Although my steak was a little overcooked (I asked for medium), Paul’s steak was perfectly rare, just as he liked it.  The flavour of the meat though was very good and they were both nicely seasoned.  My fries were OK.

Finishing off with desert, Paul went for the sticky toffee pudding while I opted for the apple pie and custard.  We both agreed the deserts were simply excellent.

The dining area outside has a great relaxed atmosphere.  It was pretty full for the entire duration of our visit and with the warm sun shining down today, it was a great place to spend a couple of hours.

In summary, this is a great restaurant to eat, drink and be seen at. The clientele are generally smart and as proven by both our visits, always include lots of eye candy.  The service is attentive, friendly and professional.  Unlike other restaurants, they don’t automatically add a service charge, but leave the tip entirely to your own discretion. Because of this, we tipped a decent amount.

Pryordurkin rating. 4 stars.
