We went along with two of Paul’s colleagues to see the recording of the last two episodes of the current series of I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue chaired by Jack Dee at Scarborough’s Futurist Theatre on Sunday.

We decided to make a day of it beforehand so headed to Scarborough just after noon and arrived at this North Yorkshire coastal town a little after 3pm.  With the wind blowing and the temperatures dropping we headed off for a bite to eat at Winking Willy’s Fish and Chip Restaurant.  After all, you can’t visit Scarborough without having some traditional fayre.  After this, we headed to The Golden Ball, a traditional pub on the main thoroughfare where we found them stoking an open log fire.  We spent a good couple of hours sitting near the fire, downing a couple of drinks and warming our cockles while chatting.

The show start time soon arrived, so we headed off to the theatre where we found another 1996 people all trying to get through the front doors.  After a little while, we had taken our seats and the recording started.

It was interesting watching how the panelist ply their trade and the thirty minutes aired on Radio 4 is the culmination of almost an hour and half recording, clearly taking the best bits for broadcast.  It was very funny at times and when the panelist were clearly making it up on the spot, it was great, but other times, where they used a script, it was not the same.

Anyway we enjoyed the experience and the two recorded shows go out on the 14th and 21st December.
