While visiting the in-laws for a few days we stayed over at the Holiday Inn hotel on Crest Way Barnwood, Gloucester. We checked in around 5pm on Good Friday and for the next three nights enjoyed this professionally run hotel. Although we were out of the hotel most of the day, the time we did spend there was very good. The Spirit Health fitness centre on site meant we could keep up with our gym going regime and while we never used it, the swimming pool looked inviting except for the time it was full of screaming kids.
The room was spacious enough and the bed very comfortable. It must have been because despite it only being a double, we both actually slept quite well. The air conditioning in the room worked a treat and help alleviate the warm spring weather during the night.
Breakfast was served up quickly and professionally. It was well cooked and presented in a clean and tidy manner. Despite being a busy little hotel, the breakfast service was not rushed and quite enjoyable. We even managed to get some people watching and spent a good couple of mornings watching and moaning about particular individuals.
Room service however was not so great. The food arrived, not as described on the menu and without a full compliment of cutlery. The food itself was of the microwave variety and had clearly been heated by the young chap who actually brought it to our room. Pretty awful really.
Apart from the room service though, we enjoyed this hotel and will certainly go back.
